As team 'Thorney Motorsport' we run three BMW CSL’s in the CSL Cup and two Vauxhall Astra VXR’s in the Dunlop Sportmaxx Championship. In the CSL Cup we have Nick Foster and Mark Steward driving the E46 M3 cars and John Thorne drives our new E92 GT3 car. Mark and Nick both have extensive racing experience, Mark has a history in Radicals and Tiger racing and Nick used to drive a Viper in the British GT Championship. John’s main role is in development, he develops and sets up all the race cars both for our own drivers and other customers and his role this year is to develop the new BMW E92 GT3 race car. The E92 M3 is being developed to full FIA GT3 homologation and this year will run in the CSL Cup, British GT, GT Cup and Britcar races as part of its development process, the car will also represent Team Tesco Momentum 99 Racing in the Britcar 24 hour race at Silverstone.

In the Vauxhall Astra VXR-R race cars we have Stuart Clarke and Alex Ashby. Stuart raced for the team last year and is back in the same Astra VXR-R, Stuart has a long experience of front wheel drive racing in the Mini Challenge. Alex is quite new to racing only having some experience in the Fun Cup endurance racing, however he is already performing well in the Astra.

As well as our own Momentum 99 Racing team cars we also build and develop race cars for other teams and individuals. We are experienced in building cars built to varying specifications from club racing to international GT level, to date we have built 7 CSL Cup race cars, a race series which the company also runs with the help of BARC.

As well as running our own team cars we also offer a complete race preparation and support service for race programs in the UK and Europe. The team has two 45 foot support trucks and can support anything from sprinting to 24hr endurance races, being based near Silverstone means travel to most UK circuits is not expensive or inconvenient. We offer cost effective packages to cover complete race support and an extensive corporate hospitality package with the capacity to cater for up to 150 guests.

Competing in many levels of racing we have achieved a lot, however we believe our biggest achievement was the 2010 Britcar 24Hour race we competed in. With our great team members and race technicians we was able to solve every problem we came across to prepare the car ready for the endurance race ahead. After nearly 5 years planning we have finally managed to break into the British Touring Car Championship in a self built Vauxhall Insignia VXR. Built to the new 'Next Generation Touring Car' regulations this is the first NGTC race car independently built and made its series debut at Silverstone in October. The car is built to 2012 season specifications and we will now undergo a winter of testing to develop the car to its full potential, however its already shown its pedigree being the lightest BTGT car on the grid as well as one of the most aerodynamic - two of the crucial areas where teams can shine under the new regulations.

The Vauxhall Insignia race car made its debut in round 10 of the British Touring Car Championship at Silverstone on Saturday 15th October and Sunday 16th October.

The car certainly wowed the fans at Silverstone with a huge cheer going up as it made the grid even if it was just for a demonstration lap (engine issues stopped us running fully) and the Batman livery certainly caused a stir.

Although the Batman Livery definatly excited the crowds our equally amazing Thorney Motorsport Livery will also do the same.
