Round 1 - Snetterton - April 26th and 27th
Snetterton always has the reputation of being hard to get to but it really isn't (its 90 minutes from the M25) and when you get there its one of the best circuits to spectate from in the UK. First round of the season will be interesting, especially as there are new rules and even a new race format to play with. Circuit wise there are good facilities and a brilliant view over the final chicane - always good for action.
Round 2 - Pembrey - May 10th and 11th
Pembrey is miles away, most people don't know the M4 even goes that far West but the trip really is worth it. Whilst the facilities aren't really up to F1 (Bernie would cry) the warm welcome, friendly bar and entertaining marshalls make up for it. The circuit is a tough one, it has a mix of high and low speed turns and is a regular test venue for lots of teams as it is so hard on the cars. We'll be racing the M3 in the Kumho Championship at the same meeting so we're in for an entertaining weekend, worth watching the pitstops for that alone.
Round 3 - Croft - June 14th and 15th
The furthest North the SportMaxx season goes and another circuit that track dayers from the South should experience. The circuit is fast, flowing but with a vicious hairpin coming onto the final straight so always a place for do or die manoevers. Paddock is pretty tight so spectators will get up close and personal to the teams.
Round 4 - Castle Combe - July 19th and 20th
Castle Combe is fast and with limited run off normally puts a few cars home on flatbeds. The natural amphitheatre means spectating postion is excellent with good views of the entire circuit. The circuit is truly friendly and the marshalls some of the most committed to the track you'll see, even the food in the cafe is nice.
Round 5 - Donington Park - August 2nd and 3rd
Great circuit, great location right next door to East Midlands airport (although that does mean that jet fuel from the planes can make the track quite slick). Excellent views from loads of places and you need to be there to appreciate the elevation changes on the track (it ain't flat put it that way). Certainly on most drivers top 3 circuits in the UK.
Round 6 - Brands Hatch - August 24th and 25th
Always a big round at Brands Hatch due to its proximatey to London along with its natural easy spectating; you can pretty much see the whole circuit from any place you care to find. The Indy circuit it short, tight and suits the better handling cars and always makes for close racing due to its short nature.
Round 7 - Thruxton - September 6th and 7th
Scene of the BTCC final showdown in 2007 and a great circuit to watch from the high banks alongside the main straight. The high kerbs always generate spectacular shots for the keen photographers so a worthwhile trip.
Round 8 - Rockingham - September 27th and 28th
The big oval always seems a bit souless when you arrive but due to the compact paddock it always seems pretty busy on a race weekend. Spectators are blessed with thousands of seats but they are placed some distance from the track but a wonder round the circuit will provide some excellent up close viewing positions.
