LSD? What's that?

Limited slip differentials are the last connection between your gearbox and your driveshafts.

What does 'Limited Slip' mean and how will it benefit the car?

As it sounds, it limits the difference in spin speed between the opposing shafts. In a standard open differential (standard on all VXR's) there is no limit in the difference of axle speed between left and right hand sides. In real world terms, on an Open Differential, if you turn your TCS off and dump the clutch the car will furiously spin the wheel with the least grip. (Usually the inside one.)

After fitting a Limited Slip Differential ('LSD'), the difference in torque bias is restricted mechanically. So, instead of transferring all the power to one wheel, the LSD limits the velocity difference between the driven wheels. We believe this is one of the best modifications that can be done to the chassis of the VXR range.

Which LSD's do we supply?

In all of the VXR applications we fit Quaife ATB (Automatic Torque Biasing) differentials. The Corsa and Astra VXR (& Corsa SRI) share the same M32 gearbox, and therefore share the same Quaife QDF25B differential. We supply them with stronger Timken bearings only, we feel they aren't optional.

How Much Do They Cost?

The differential kit for the Astra & Corsa M32 Gearboxes is £815 inc VAT. We can also supply and fit the differential to your car in around 3 hours for £1,049 inc VAT. This differential M32 application will also fit the 1.9CDTi engined Vauxhall cars. We can supply a range of Vauxhall and BMW Quaife differentials also. Please contact us for more information.
