Astra G 2.0 Turbo - Brake Upgrades

by Thorney Motorsport - Fri, 04 Jun 2010 08:36

The Astra G is a lighter chassis than the newer H (and VXR) so suffers less from poor braking and fade with prolonged heavy use. However, whenever you're upgrading the power and handling of a car its essential to look at how you use the brakes and their ability to stand up to increased use, this is especially important if you wish to use the car on track.

Astra G 2.0 Turbo - Handling Upgrades

Be honest with yourself, do you just want a lowered look, better handling or the ability to take the car on track and still get home without rattling your teeth out? Your choice of use of the car can save you money buying kit you might not need. Suspension tuning is more than just chucking a set of springs on and driving off into the sunset decide what level you want to go for and install it rather than just bolt it on.

Astra G 2.0 Turbo - Peformance Upgrades

by Thorney Motorsport - Sun, 17 Dec 2006 21:00

The Astra G GSI, VX220 Turbo and Astra VXR all share the same basic engine. The VXR (Astra H) has quite a few engine internal changes and a different turbo but all three have similar ECU's and identical basic engine configurations. So it'd be a bit daft of us to spend years perfecting the VX220 Turbo tuning, then spend just as long developing the VXR model and ignore the Astra G wouldn't it?

The VXR-D is the culmination of over 2 years of research and development. We wanted a car that sounded like a VXR-R, handled like a VXR-R, looked like a VXR-R but more doubled the petrol cars fuel economy.

There is little point in upgrading the power of your car without addressing the issue of getting it to stop, so we have developed a range of braking upgrades for the Astra to suit both driving type and level of performance. Its worth pointing out that braking performance should not be measured why whether or not you can lock the wheels up or not, that’s like comparing how fast a plane is by how hard it hits the ground if it crashes, it’s a question of power, consistency and longevity.

Astra H CDTI - Handling Upgrades

Chassis dynamics relates to the cars handling and ride. Getting power from these cars is relatively easy but there is a true art to getting a car to handle to its full potential – its not just a question of bolting on a set of springs and promising handling characteristics of a race car – it's not that simple no matter what people tell you.

Handling and ride are areas where there are no right or wrong answers. There are only the right options for the owner, what works for one owner may not work for another. So, we have developed a range of options for the car that allow a flexible approach to handling and ride that can be finely tuned to your preference.

Astra H CDTi [120] - Power Upgrades

by Thorney Motorsport - Mon, 26 Jul 2010 09:42

We've spent a fair bit of time on the Astra CDTi and it's definitely the dark horse of the Astra line up. It has VXR levels of performance but with diesel economy. The power delivery is vastly different to the VXR as its diesel motor delivers maximum torque from low revs. However, it does mean we can gain daft amounts of extra torque with no danger to the engine. As with all of our upgrades, we offer a 3 Year / 60,000 Mile warranty, that mirrors your Vauxhall warranty.
